Van den Ende-Gupta Syndrome (VDEGS) is a skeletal syndrome causing severe skeletal anomalies that are already evident in puppies. The disorder is characterised by patellar luxation, underbite (shorter upper jaw), dislocated radial head and deviated nasal septum. In one study, 22% of the control population were carriers of the disorder.

Inheritance: autosomal recessive

Mutation: SCARF2 gene

Genetic test: The method used for testing is extremely accurate and allows complete differentiation between affected animals, carriers and healthy dogs. Testing can be done at any age.
